ASRC MANDATE
-
•To
increase access to information, resources and supports that directly
improves the health and well-being of Aboriginal Seniors in
Winnipeg;

provide opportunities for active involvement within the community as
a means of achieving physical, emotional, mental and spiritual
balance;

•To
create an environment that will generate a sense of community
resources and develop a strong focus;

•To
reach out and connect Aboriginal Seniors to additional community
resources and develop a stronger focus;

•To
create and environment where Aboriginal Seniors can celebrate their
uniqueness and build friendships; and

•To
provide opportunities for Aboriginal Seniors to pass on traditional
values and historical knowledge to younger generations.
ASRC GUIDING PRINCIPLES

•Aboriginal
Seniors have the right to be a part of the decision making
process on all matters affecting their lives and community;

•Aboriginal
Seniors have the right to be treated with dignity and respect;

•Aboriginal
Seniors have the right to access health, social and other services
in a culturally sensitive environment; and

•Aboriginal
Seniors should be returned to their rightful place as teachers and
mentors.
ASRC PRESENT/FUTURE PLANS

•To
partner with United Way regarding Computer Training and expanding on
Sewing Clubs equipment.

•To
continue coordinating Foot Clinics, Blood Pressure-Sugar Clinics,
Flu Shot Clinics, etc.

•To
plan for Income Tax Services for Kekinan Tenants.
